The parameter depth of the fairway for large tonnage ships entering the Hau River

Fairway: For large tonnage ships entering the Hau River
Southern Vietnam Maritime Safety Corporation would like to inform that The parameter depth of the fairway for large tonnage ships entering the Hau River, as follows:
Within range of surveyed fairway’s bottom limited and guided by AtoN system, depth is determined by Echo Sounding 200kHz Frequency to Chart Datum.
- The section: from Buoy no. “0” to The sea dyke of Dan Thanh commune, Duyen Hai district, Tra Vinh province (the area buoys no. “9”, “12”) has a length of 7.7 km as follows
- The section from buoy no. “0” to buoys no. “7”, “10” – 200 m, is 150 m wide, 6,5 km long, as follows:
+ The section from buoy no. “0” to buoy no. “1” + 270 m, is 1,6 km long, depth is 6,5 m.
+ The section from buoy no. “1” + 270 m to buoy no. “8” – 100 m, is 3,5 km long, depth is 4,1 m.
+ The section from buoy no. “8” – 100 m to buoys no. “7”, “10” – 200 m, is 1,4 km long, depth is 1,9 m on the starboard hand side of fairway, depth at fairway’s center is 3,0 m.
- The section from buoy no. “7”, “10” – 200 m to buoys no. “9”, “12”, the width of the least fairway’s bottom is 85 m, 1,2 km long, depth is 2,1 m on the port hand side of fairway, depth at fairway’s center is 4,8 m.
- Tat Canal fairway section: the section from the sea dyke of Dan Thanh commune, Duyen Hai district, Tra Vinh province (the area buoys no. “9”, “12”) to the confluence of Quan Chanh Bo – Tat canal, the least width of fairway’s bottom is 85 m, length of 8.7 km as follows:
- The section from beacons no. “9”, “12” to beacon no. “17” + 1370 m, is 7,9 km long, depth is 4,7 m on the port hand side of fairway, depth at fairway’s center is 6,5 m.
- The section from beacon no. “17” + 1370 m to the junction of Quan Chanh Bo – Tat canal, about 0.8 km in length, 0.7 m in depth, close to the port hand side of fairway, depth at fairway’s center is 4.2 m.
- Quan Chánh Bố canal fairway section: from the confluence of the Quan Chanh Bo canal – the Tat canal to the confluence of the Hau river, the Quan Chanh Bo canal (the area of buoy no. “46”), the least width of fairway’s bottom is 85 m, 20.0 km long, as follows:
- The section from Quan Chanh Bo – Tat canal junction to beacon no. “25”, is about 6.7 km in length, 4.1 m in depth, close to the port side of fairway, and 5.2 m in the center of fairway.
- The section from beacon no. “25” to buoy no. “39A” + 130 m, is 12,8 km long, depth is 3,0 m on the port side of fairway, depth at fairway’s center is 4,7 m.
- The section from buoy no. “39A” + 130 m to the junction of Hau river and Quan Chanh Bo Canal (at the area of buoy no. “46”), is 0,5 km long, depth is -0,5 m (on Chart Datum of the Paper chart) on the starboard side of fairway, depth at fairway’s center is 5,2 m.
- The Hau river section: from the confluence of the Hau river, the Quan Chanh Bo canal (the area of buoy no. “46”) to the upstream of buoys no. “57”, “64” (the area intersecting with the Dinh An – Hau River fairway), the width The least fairway’s bottom is 95 m, the length is about 16.2 km as follows
- The section from the confluence of Hau river, Quan Chanh Bo canal (the area of buoy no. “46”) to buoy no. “46” + 500 m, about 0.5 km in length, 2.7 m in depth, located close to the starboard side of fairway, the depth between depth at fairway’s center is 6.7 m
- The section from buoys no. “46” + 500 m to “43” + 70 m, is 2,9 km long, depth is 5,7 m, depth at fairway’s center is 6,4 m.
- Section from buoy no. “43” + 70 m to the area intersecting with Dinh An – Song Hau fairway, 12.8 km long, depth is 6.5 m.
- The ship waiting area: including 02 the ship waiting area belongs to the section of Quan Chanh Bo canal, the width of waters is 50 m, 600 m long, as follows:
- The ship waiting area 1: on the starboard hand side of fairway, at the area of beacon no. “19” and beacon no. “24”, depth is 5,5 m.
- The ship waiting area 2: on the starboard hand side of fairway, at the area of beacons no. “29”, “34” to beacons no. “31”, “36”, depth is 0,6 m on the starboard hand side of fairway.
- Dangers on fairway: Moving stakes appear scattered on the fairway in the area from buoys no. “19”, “24” to buoys no. “35”, “40”, encroaching on the farthest fairway about 41 m and the buoy area no. “47” – 180 m to buoy no. “49” + 850 m encroaching on the farthest channel about 25 m.

All means navigating on the fairway for large tonnage ships entering the Hau River, is based on the Notice to Mariners, Sounding charts and AtoN system for maritime safety. Pay attention to, depth ranges and obstacles at the area mentioned above, keep smoothly communication, and absolutely comply with the appointment of Maritime Administration of Can Tho.
